What to Expect

Your first step is to contact us and let us know you are interested in receiving services. Should you and your therapist decide to proceed with services, you will be asked to complete intake paperwork that helps our counselors gain initial insights into your situation.

We utilize the Headway portal to manage client services. You will need to create an account. Please make sure to review our cancellation policy and ensure that you have access to the technology required to meet virtually via Headway.

Before your first session, it can be helpful to reflect on what you hope to gain from therapy. Consider your reasons for seeking counseling, the specific issues or challenges you want to address, and any goals you have in mind. This will assist you in effectively communicating your needs to the counselor during the initial session.

Starting therapy can evoke various emotions, including anxiety, anticipation, or relief. It's normal to feel a mix of emotions as you begin this process. It can be helpful to acknowledge and manage these feelings, reminding yourself that therapy is a supportive space for personal growth and well-being.

In your first session

In this initial 60-minute appointment, our first goal will be to make sure you feel safe, supported, and comfortable to express yourself. Then, we will begin to discover your goals of what you hope to achieve through therapy, including your concerns, challenges, and desired outcomes. We will explain the limits of confidentiality, discussing the importance of maintaining your privacy and our professional obligations regarding confidentiality.

We will do an assessment to gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation, asking about your personal history, current circumstances, and any relevant factors contributing to your concerns. We will discuss a potential treatment plan tailored to your needs. Lastly, we'll cover any questions and concerns that you might have before wrapping up with details of our next steps.

In subsequent sessions

Subsequent sessions will last approximately 55 minutes.

In creating treatment plans that respect the uniqueness of each client, it is difficult to estimate the number of therapy sessions you will need. We will be transparent in offering a “good faith” estimate to help you make informed decisions about your treatment. To learn more about the right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Our
goal is to help you become independent and self-reliant, working ourselves out of a job. The duration of therapy depends on how often you attend sessions and how much you practice the skills learned in therapy outside of sessions. Ultimately, you have the power to decide how long you want to stay in therapy.
